Today Dan was working for us delivering MIAS (Mountain Bike Instructor Award Scheme) level 1 and Level 2 training course based in the Bridgwater Area. The weather forecast for the two day course is excellent with sunny spells and little wind.
The day started at Cannington Activity Centre where they had a classroom booked for the morning to cover the theory element of the course. This included the remit of the awards, the role/responsibilities of the leader, group and leader equipment, bike anatomy and basic trailside maintenance. This was followed by a session covering correct bike fitment, pre ride checks and warm up activities.
After lunch they headed over to Ramscombe in the Quantock Hills AONB to go for the first main ride of the course. This afternoons ride covered leadership styles and techniques, assessing the terrain (non-technical and technical), riding on various terrain including the road, non technical and technical terrain and activities to improve riding technique.
